Tangara Bay got a lovely leap at the last to settle matters in the Adare Manor Opportunity Mares Maiden Hurdle at Clonmel.

The Henry de Bromhead-trained mare made the early running in the two-mile-two contest before Chautuaqua pulled her way to the front with a circuit to run.

Paddy O’Brien found a nice run up the rail to lead turning for home and he saw a stride down to the final flight as the 3/1 shot flew it and went on to post a two-and-three-quarter length win over Early Bird

The winner had been fifth behind the classy El Cairos on her last outing at Thurles.

Stepping Up In Trip At Clonmel

“She had a good run in Thurles, where she made a mistake (two out), and the step up in trip helped her today,” said de Bromhead.

“I'm delighted for the Fitzgeralds (owners) as she has always looked nice and previously had some nice bumper runs.

"We will kick on now and I think she likes nice ground.

"Paddy is riding really well, we've had plenty of luck with him and he is a lovely rider. He comes in a day a week and is with us since last year."
