Smart hurdler Aspire Tower (4/1) got off the mark on his fourth chase run today, landing Wexford’s Visit Wexford Beginners Chase for trainer Henry De Bromhead, jockey Mike O’Connor and owners Robcour.

The nine-year-old, a dual Grade 2-winning hurdler and runner-up in the 2020 Triumph Hurdle, today capitalised on leader Westport Cove rsquo;s mistakes at the final two fences and rallied well to score by a neck.

O'Connor reported "we went a good even gallop the whole way and his jumping was good. He is a good stayer over two miles and to be fair to him, he put his head down and battled all the way to the line.

“The second horse was probably a tad unlucky at the last, but I felt that I always had the measure of him anyway. My lad found plenty between the second last and the last. He just missed the last, got in under it a bit, but when he landed, he landed running.

“It's lovely to have a winner and even better in these colours."

Trainer De Bromhead runs Gold Cup hero Minella Indo and Senior Chief in tomorrow’s Aintree Grand National.
