Freddie Robdal comes from last to first for De Bromhead treble

Trainer Henry De Bromhead completed a treble on the evening as Freddie Robdal came from last to first to win the SIS, Supporting Irish Racing Handicap Chase at Kilbeggan.

Darragh O'Keeffe, who was riding a double, looked on from rear on the 16/1 chance as Natural Breeze led the field for the best part of two-miles.

The latter was pulled up sharply after jumping the third last, leaving Three In A Row in front under Donagh Meyler.

O'Keeffe moved sixth on Freddie Robdal after jumping the next, before setting off in pursuit of the leader and second placed Island McCoo

Produced to challenge that latter pair at the final fence, O'Keeffe soon led before keeping on strongly to record a one-and-a-half length win.

The winning jockey reported: “He jumped brilliant the whole way. They went a good gallop on the ground, and I was always going to ride him cold because of the trip.

“He has a good record fresh and I got a good jump at the last when I got the split, and he kept going to the line.

“I was a bit concerned about the trip. I rode him over 2m4f in Leopardstown over hurdles and thought he didn’t stay on the day but chasing is different and he jumped so well today.”
