The Henry De Bromhead trained Red Glory made a winning seasonal reappearance when staying on strongly under Darragh O'Keeffe to take the Donovan Transport Handicap Hurdle at Tipperary.
Off the track since finishing mid division at Cork in November, the seven-year-old was fully tuned for this contest, finding plenty when asked to go and win his race early in the straight.
Never out of the first half dozen, the 11/1 chance went second in pursuit of leader Away To Milan after jumping three out.
Pushed along to lead on the run to the penultimate flight, the gelding found plenty when pressed by The Banger Doyle on the run-in, staying on to score by a length.
Darragh O’Keeffe said: “He was fit coming here and in good nick. I rang Rachael beforehand and she said to keep it nice and simple and she felt when he came under pressure that he would find plenty.
“When I jumped the second last well he was looking around and had his ears pricked but when The Banger Doyle came to him he picked up and went to the line well.
“He loves a bit of nice ground and hopefully he can have a good summer.”
