Lee over the moon with second success

Billy Lee bagged a second winner on the evening when taking the concluding Heights Hotel, Killarney Handicap on the Henry de Bromhead-trained Chicago Moon

Successful in the opening race on City Of Dubai, Lee arrived with a late challenge on the 11/2 chance to peg back Brendan Duke’s front-running 14/1 shot Canon Law inside the final 100 yards, winning by two and a half lengths.

The 13/8 favourite Point Cartwright couldn’t go the early pace and was stone last into the straight. He flashed home to take third place, a further three-parts of a length back.

“I’m very happy with that. We went a really good gallop and I had a nice position the whole way, sort of mid-div, and it suited her,” said Lee.

“She ran well here the last day coming off a slow gallop and I thought if we went a gallop today it would suit her.

“She gallops all day. She’s won nicely, she’s one that holds a little bit for herself so you’d be hoping she’d progress from that and there might be another day in her.”

On the application of cheekpieces, the winning jockey added: “They definitely helped her because she’s always one that’s behind the bridle. They just gave me a little help today, especially when they went a good gallop.

“All she did was stay and gallop out to the line.”
