Look To The West lands the odds over fences

Look To The West completed a double on the evening at Kilbeggan for Henry de Bromhead when justifying favouritism in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Beginners Chase. She Is Electric lived up to her name when setting a fast early pace and soon built up a sizeable lead.

However, the front-runner was reeled in by the 10/11 favourite at the fourth last and she proceeded to control things from the front.

Rachael Blackmore ’s mount kept on well on the run-in to beat Gaoth Chuil by three and a half lengths with the pair stretching 26 lengths clear of the remainder.

De Bromhead was also on the mark earlier with Magic Day (7/1) in the mares’ handicap hurdle.

Blackmore said, “She had some lovely runs over hurdles, and it was good to do that over fences. She’s very straight forward and her jumping was really good.

“She’d a nice run the last day. I got her into a bit of trouble up the straight, so it was nice to keep things a lot simpler today.

“That trip suited her today and options are open for her.”
