Trainer Henry De Bromhead completed a treble on the afternoon, as market leader Nouvotic justified that position with a battling performance to win the www.wexfordraces.ie Beginners Chase.

Sent off 6/4f under Darragh O'Keeffe, the gelding settled third, as West Away led from Iamagetaway The former departed four from home, leaving the last named in front under Kevin Sexton.

However, Iamagetaway had no more to offer before two out, as Nouvotic went on, closely followed by the locally trained Palamon

The two went down to the last neck and neck but a better jump at that final obstacle saw Nouvotic come away the better. Keeping on well inside the last 150 yards, he went on to win by two-and-a-half lengths.

Jockey Darragh O'Keeffe was registering a double on the afternoon.

De Bromhead said: "I'm delighted with that, he was tough out and Darragh gave him a super ride. It looked like he was beaten turning in, but he just really ground it out. I think he did similar in his maiden hurdle here last year when Rachael won on him. He likes it here and it's brilliant to get one for the Brookhouse's.

"It was a good run the last day and he made a mistake at the third last that really took him out of it. I'd say this sort of staying track suits him better.

"I've no plan for him but he could maybe go to Tramore next for a race over two-mile six.

"It's been a brilliant day. Any day you get a winner is a good day, but to have three is even better."
