Having won the opening race on the card, jockey J J Slevin completed a double on the evening when making all aboard the Henry De Bromhead trained Quantum Quest to land the Peadar's Bar Moate Maiden Hurdle at Kilbeggan.

Runner-up at Downpatrick when last seen in March, the 8/13f appreciated stepping up in trip here on his first start of the new season.

Despite an indifferent round of jumping, the Idaho gelding proved four-and-a-half lengths too strong for Reiki Revolution the only opponent to throw down any meaningful challenge from two out.

The win was completing an across the card double for De Bromhead, who landed the Listed race at Killarney less than half-an-hour earlier.

“It was a good performance, he was entitled to do that,” said Slevin.

“He’s probably matured since his break. I rode him out the other morning and he felt a much stronger horse.

“He was a bit clumsy at one or two, purely because he was idling and looking around him, but it was straightforward.

“Whatever he does over hurdles is a bonus. He’s a big staying chaser and we’ll see where he slots in in time.”
