Yeshil (4/6f) survived a stewards’ enquiry when winning Punchestown’s Connolly's Red Mills Irish EBF Auction Maiden Hurdle today, scoring for trainer Henry De Bromhead, owners Simon Munir and Isaac Souede, and retained jockey JJ Slevin.
Runner-up on his Punchestown festival bumper debut in April 2024, the five-year-old had finished 21 lengths behind top prospect Kopek Des Bordes last December and today made his reappearance.
Yeshill was challenged by Vitorio Piel (5/2) at the final flight in today’s race and while he hung badly left on the run-in and caused his market rival to check, finished stronger and held the runner-up by a length and a half.
Trainer De Bromhead said “he’s a lovely young horse and ran well in the Land Rover here a year and a half ago.
“He was just a bit babyish last year and has really developed now. The bit of time has really stood to him and the step up in trip as well.”
