Stepdance won a nice pot with her first victory in the Tote Tramore Derby Handicap over a mile and a-half.
Henry de Bromhead's charge made eye-catching headway in the final half mile for jockey Wayne Hassett.
She closed on, and passed, Beer With The Boys outside the final furlong and still had plenty in the tank as she powered home by a length and three-quarters at 3/1. Spinning Web the 5/2 favourite, finished well in the final furlong to be a never nearer second and was just over three lengths in front of Itsalonglongroad (7/1).
Stepdance hadn't been placed in her previous 12 outings, so this was a good step up in form.
The trainer said: "I'm delighted for her owners, the Dawsons. The are great supporters of the game, and ours, and it's a brilliant local winner. My father trained for their father many moons ago, so we have a lot of history together.
"They have been very patient with her and it's nice to get her to win one. Wayne gave her a super ride, he was very confident. She'd been working well and I'm delighted.
"When those fillies start winning, anything could happen. I've entered her in an apprentice race at Limerick at the weekend, but we'll see - we'll enjoy today first."
This 0-60 handicap was worth €20,000 with €12,000 going to the winner.
